Many programs written for Windows Mobile 2003 will work with a few DLL files added, because many of these programs were written for the .NET Compact Framework 1.0
(which can be installed on this device
) and, as I've learned, many other WM 2003 programs actually identify their OS version as 4.1
(rather than 4.2, which is the version on which WM 2003 is based
). Even some other CE 4.2 programs can be made to work with some hacking. Nearly all earlier Pocket PC programs will work as well.
The web browser in CE 4.1 .net
(Internet Explorer CE 5.5
) is also considerably better than the Pocket Internet Explorer of H/PC 2000 and earlier devices.
As for USB thumb drives, they may well work out of the box with this device. If not, you can use the Deje USB mass storage driver:
