Hi,

I'm looking for someone who owns the serial cable for Intermec 6651. I've found a way to dump the ROM, but serial cable is needed for it.

To dump the ROM image:
1. Switch off the device COMPLETELY
2. Hold Space+K and press ON
3. When a menu called "- SELF CHECK MENU -" shows up, press Ctrl+F3 (that's the one after the IE button)
4. Launch "ROM Tool"
5. Fire up Hyperterminal on PC and connect the Intermec using the serial cable
6. In Hyperterminal, go to Transfer > Receive File
7. Press S on the Intermec

It should send a ROM image to the destination you selected in Hyperterminal.

I haven't tested this procedure, so I don't know if it works.

FWIW, a Sharp Mobilon serial cable will also work.

No one has a cable for it? I searched everywhere and I can't even find a pinout. Mobilon cable also disappeared...

I see that Self Check menu was already discovered - I googled it earlier and have not found it: http://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12073&start=1

Anyway, here's a list of key combinations to press during 6651 startup, maybe it will come handy for someone:

Space+K - Self Check and ROM stuff (navigate between menus by pressing Alt+Outlook, IE, etc.)
Space+V - Load Card Program
Space+P - Boot from Patch Card (I get an "Patch card is invalid!!" error)
Space+R and Space+M - this one is interesting. When you press these combinations, Intermec hangs and starts to flash the green Mail LED. I think it launches a program called Monitor that is also accessible through Self Check menu, but it requires serial cable for communication. You can see Monitor commands at addresses 0xbfc01300 and 0xbfc01bb0 in Dump Tool ([C] menu at Self Check)

Hi,

I think that I have this cable (and also an Intermec 6651 with all its accessories).
The problem is that I'm in France...
