Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone here is aware of any software that provides the text of the Quran, the Moslem holy book. If the software reads and translate the text so much the better. Thanks

This is just an impromptu suggestion here.

Laridian just released the Tanakh for Pocket Bible, so given this they may be opening up to the idea of broadening their religious texts, and may be if they're open and receive enough requests the new horizons for the program could include the Quran in the future.

I for one would like to see them cater for a more diverse spiritual need. It would certainly be good for their business.
Actual Arabic though, I'm not sure if their client can do that - you would at the very least need to install a good swathe of fonts (on a non Arabic IME device).

Project Gutenberg has am English translation - the file is koran10.zip. This ASCII file would be readable with an e-book reader or even Pocket Word (maybe). The file might need to be broken up into sections for use with Pocket Word.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies, and the really good tips and suggestions. C.Amie, I'll send the folks at Laridian and see what they say.

I am really grateful to bruisedquasar for the links, I'm not aware of memoware and the link you posted is a great resource. I thank you for that.

Yoldering, I've actually dowloaded that software but have not yet had a go at it. I'll do that later this evening, and I'll report back on what happens. Thanks again for the links though.

And yes, 739, sound advice that is, I will not flush it down the virtual toilet
