The Jornada 680 is a CE 2.11 device, not a CE 3 device. If you were sold it as a CE3 device, it was missold. |

| The most common reason for this error is that the device couldn't find a dial-tone. Did you install and correctly specify your modem during the wizard? |

| I inserted my extra PCMCIA fax modem into the pc card slot and selected it during the wizard, so I am assuming it is installed correctly. Is there anything else I need to do to it. Thanks |

| Nope, that should be it.
If you pick up the handset when you hit the 'connect' button, do you hear the modem squark? |
| Yes for about 15-20 seconds. |

| Very well, a good start.
When you double tap on your Dial-up entry in Remote Networking, on the right hand side at the top will be "Phone:"
Is that number correct, or has it been prefixed by a "9," an exra "0" or is it completly wrong? |

| The number on the device reads T120618702770020. The correct access number is 870-277-0020. |

| There you go then, change the dialing rule to home and set it up for your situation |
