| Hi, I am a new member to HPC Factor, i recently purchased a NEC MobilePro780 and i was looking through the forums and ive seen a lot of people looking for software which others on this board have helped them find, im simply looking for 2 things, a video player (something that can play avi maybe) and a remote control software kind of like www.pdawin.com . Just wondering if anyone knows of any softwares. Btw, i really like this board and upon its recommendation i purchased my MP from tigerdirect and i gotta tell you it was in perfect condition. 2 small scratches on the front, but barely noticeable, and the screen and the rest of the stuff was extremely well done. It was barely used if ever. Thanks once again guys! |

| Hi, i already have Windows Media Player but it doesnt play videos. I believe i have tried BetaPlayer but upon installation, when i launch the program menu it says that the particular exe file cannot be found. I will give it another shot n thanks a lot. Anyone know of any remote control softwares (tv's, vcr's, dvd's so forth?) because in my house i have close to 13 items and its kinda hard finding the remote all the time and i have an ipaq and using the remote software on that really makes it easy to control everything. |

| Oh wow, betaplayer works great.. thank you so much. I was wondering is there any reason why the video doesnt come out right? ive encoded it to fit on the screen but the video doesnt have its flow and the audio keeps getting cut. Am i using too high of a bitrate? (800kbps for video and 128 for audio). Any way i can fix that? |

| Far too high. Optimal on the Jornada 720 is 160Kbps.
Try 100 or 120 |

| Hi Amie, got that working perfect.. Thanks a lot, another thing ive noticed is that i tried installation HPC Doom (i followed all the directions and created the directories accordingly) and it doesnt seem to work. Is it because i have a NEC MP? because i dont see others having a problem with it. When i launch the application, nothing happens. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem. |

| yes. i have been having the same problems as well with both HPC doom and HPC quake. nothing happens when i try to open the programs |

| When the HPC Doom instructions say to create a HPC Doom folder on a storage card.... It doesn't actually work.
For some reasons, I have never fathomed why... it just doesn't.
You have to put the HPC Doom folder and wad in main RAM and then it will mount. |

| I've searched for remote control software, and found this:

it's for mips only, so should work. give it a try and keep us informed
