j728 constantly losing stylus calibration

basically a few minutes after I recalibrate I have to click about a quarter of an inch to the right of smaller buttons in order to activate them

Is it because you're adjusting the tilt on the screen? If so, probably a bad connection.

i will try it at different angles. it worked fine after I started the thread. if that's the case should I expect the screen to fail soon?

Not necessarily. Follow te CESD video guide on pulling the 700 series apart and re-seat the connectors.

Unfortunately the 700 and 600 series are prone to stress around the right hand edge of the screen, if that is the case then you'll be needing to replace the orange FPCB.

I had similar problem with 720.
I calibrated in every 2 hours.
My working solution was to clean this connector:
