Very interesting, so all you have is a DNS problem on this TinyBook.
I don't now what is the equivalent on it to this command in XP command line:
ipconfig /all
but if you can check/compare the DNS entries anywhere on your Tinyooks, you could probably correct something there on the problem TinyBook.

| Thanks for all the help so far!
I will be checking the DNS entries this evening.
As for vxUtil, it looks great, but I can't install it. It requires ActiveSync to install and I am on a Mac.
Thank you again. I'll let you know how it goes. |

You would check the primary and secondary DNS servers in your TCP/IP settings.
If you don't mind, document how you do this on a TinyBook for others to see.
Good luck!
Also, MACs nowadays can run Windows.
Just wondering, does yours run MAC OS?

| I will do my best. Not sure how much I will actually accomplish, though. And yes, my Mac is currently running Snow Leopard. I have an ASUS netbook running Ubuntu and no Windows machines. |

| FWIW- I was able to get the Tinybook I purchased from GodMedia to surf wirelessly by changing the channel my router was broadcasting on. |

| So let's have a recap now...
- Who currently has a Tinybook T706?
- Anyone have a T702, the touchscreen version without the mousepad?
- Anyone have the Mitsusimi PC706 version?
- Everyone have the black colored one?
- Anyone have more than one?
- Anyone have one that is broken?

| I have a broken one. I was messing around in the registry and now it wont fully boot. It gets to almost completely loading the desktop, then freezes. I'd sell it for parts if anyone is interested. In near mint condition with charger. $25 +shipping (US only).

| You mean it gets past the black loading screen? |
|
|
|
| Yes. It gets past the loading screen then starts to load the desktop. It draws about half the desktop icons then freezes. |

| I wonder if you could use the remote desktop reg editor to fix it? Anyways, the price is sure right....I mean as a backup lcd, and the battery alone is worth that if not more... |

| I've joined the TinyBook party, a bit late, but enjoying myself so far. Using CE Geek's http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/s/0127.asp
I've encountered a different layout of disks than the Razorbook. The TinyBook layout is ""Flash Driver" and "System Disk"
I do not see a /Windows directory in either of these areas, so can't make things persistent. I don't want to brick this thing, and don't want to hack the registry since I'm a bit confused.
Can someone illuminate me?
Also, I would like to make an Arial font stay around after a reboot? Is that possible? I copied it to /Windows/Fonts but of course it was gone after a soft reset.
And lastly, can I hack the system fonts in the registry? Make things a little larger and bold? I've done that with all my other CE devices. Can I assume that this font-changing has to be done by hand? I didn't find a program in RTFM's great collection of apps.
Many thanks,
Jake |

| There are 3 folders where you can put things where they won't disappear. The "flash driver" folder, the "system disk" folder, and the "pocketmory" folder (which is hidden). But from the explorer shell you can type \pocketmory in the window and hit return and view the contents.
If you want the arial font to become the default, you will have to make a registry entry specifying that and define the path to whereever you store the .ttf file. |

That's how I unbricked my Augen eGo - it made an ActiveSync connection during reboot, and in CERegEdit on my PC I added to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/init a LaunchXX value below 50 for Total Commander so that it would launch that before explorer.exe.
I only have one TinyBook T706, and it's working wonderfully. (Would love to get my hands on a T702, though. ) |
