I am sure this question is in the forum in at least half a dozen places..but I still have not learned how to productively use the search facility here. I want to convert a movie (dvd) to play on my j720. Can someone point me to a thread that will show me the most efficient way to do it?

Just use DVD Catalyst (free) or purchase it (at a very reasonable price). If you are having trouble with the site search, might I suggest Google with your search terms and "site:www.hpcfactor.com" added. DVD Catalyst is at http://www.tools4movies.com/category/free-downloads/ these days. HTH.

I would suggest you invest in
The Great Handheld PC Software and Resource CD from Usedhandhelds.
For $39.90 plus shipping you get licensed versions of Catalyst, PocketDos, Softmaker Office and lots more.

Still hard to beat.

In my experience, that'd be FLV (Flash Video). FLV videos are also smaller files than MPEG-4 or AVI files.

Can you recommend any good transcoders that will do divx to FLV?

I've heard of 'Magic' Video Converter. Is it the same one you're referring to?

I use eRight Software's SUPER, which actually does a pretty nice job even though it's free.
