| hello all with a NEC MP 900, with the original HPC2000 OS on it!
can you help me a little? first, i would like to have the following information about your MP 900: the rom build date, firmware version, bootloader version.
does anyone have this old (possibly the first? ) version: nec firmware version 5.1, build date June 12 2003, PIC firmware ID 4, bootloader version 3.0? this is mine and i'm curious if anyone else has it.
you can acquire the information in control panel / nec firmware info and/or mobilepro settings/asset view.
another thing that interests me: can you make a txt list of your ROM? i don't mind if you have not hard reset your device for a while.
how to make the list: open start menu/run, type cmd, enter, then use the following command: dir /a /s > all.txt (all.txt can be something else too ). it is enough if you do this with the Windows folder (typing cd windows before the dir command ) but i don't mind a complete dump of the system either.
thank you very much! |

| My MP900 has the same ROM specs as yours. Is that a bad thing?
I’ll PM you the list file. |

| no, no it isn't a bad thing at all, don't worry
hmm, isn't that the first version? because i saw someone saying his rom build date was 2004-something.. (and the 900 was announced in May 2003 ) just wondering.
thanks for the list in advance! |

| ouch!
have you tried hard resetting? proper hard reset, not just a soft reset. if you don't know what a hard reset is, i'll describe it to you. just ask me!
if you tried it already then it is a corrupted rom.. is it a typical error then? i just saw another thread on it (on pocketpcmag.com forum) though that thread is half a year old.
can you tell me the details how the rom got corrupted? not that it would help with anything, just interested.
and finally, the bad news: you can't reinstall the rom. so i hope a hard reset will solve your problem, if you haven't tried it yet. i really hope it will help. report back!! |

| ok, if someone with a 900 sees my plea:
i'd be even more grateful if it wouldn't be only a filelist. if you're willing to help a little more than that (it takes only one (! ) minute ), write me here please
all of it takes two minutes, one minute for making the list and one for the other task.
DataHaunt, where are you? |

| file not found? hmmm that's strange. are you sure you were in Windows folder? if not, try it this way please thanks!!
anyway, i'll describe it again:
1 ) start menu/run
2 ) type: cmd then hit enter
3 ) cd windows
4 ) dir /s /a >rom.txt
or just dir /s >rom.txt if it doesn't work
oh and i think the created txt can be found in Windows folder. Edited by cmonex 2005-07-04 11:16 PM

| dir /s /a > \rom.txt
Will put it on the root
You must include the /a or theres no point. |
