I know this seems a strange request but does anyone know if the SDK for Windows CE 1.00 is available anywhere for developing simple applications with?

Microsoft sure don't list it anymore. Does anyone have it on their hard disk? Any one seen it on a file sharing network? On an FTP site?

Many thanks!

Download the WinCE2.0 SDK from the HPCFactor developer links (http://www.hpcfactor.com/developer). You need Visual C++ 5 or 6 to get it to work, as it's a toolkit for either of those products rather than a standalone product. Also, it won't integrate into any of the Embedded VC products...

Good luck!

Chiark, Windows CE 1.0

You need Visual Studio with VC/VB 5 and the Windows CE Toolkit for VC/VB 5. Neither of which are free.

C:Amie, the devkit supports development for CE1.0 - the readme tells you the stuff to avoid to guarantee compatability

What a single line reference to PALETTEINDEX for unibuilds and the host installer grab

The original poster is correct, rumour has it (from trawling msdn) that many moons ago there was a CE1 SDK available for web-redist, but I've never seen hide nor hair of it anywhere other than in the CETK's.

Aye, but the ref to 1.0 is there all the same. Weird. You should be able to target 1.0 machines with the 2.0 SDK.

You do also need the Visual C++ toolkit , as Chris says, which is not free. It is on the MSDN disks, so if you know a developer with MSDN access, you might like to pester them? I'm not exactly sure on the legality of such pestering as they will only be licensed to use the software themselves, but you could always get them to compile everything for you, and report the errors.

Good luck!
Nick.
