I asked a couple of days ago if anybody knew of a wireless card for a HP340LX I was put on the right track by going to the HCL support, where I was told that if it was not in there then I could forget it as there are so few cards for CE2.00.
What true words they were, the only two mentioned there would appear to be in production around 1995/1996, I have checked their company websites, supplier websites, EBay and anywhere else that it may be possible to find them, all to no avail. It would appear that they are pretty non-existent now. I would like to be proved wrong, but do not believe that there is much chance of that at present.

It should work but as it says in the HCL notes, be careful of limited WEP support in some models.

Orinoco, Prism2.5, and a couple of other chipsets should work, however CE 2.0 is pretty unstable with wireless networking (especially MIPS processors). Senao NL-2511CD looks good, with a decent antenna it may be the very best card you can get on CE 2.x (it won't go beyond 802.11b, 128-bit WEP and 11mbps).

Are you actually stating the the 2511CD works on 2.00 from experience or are you just pointing at cards with that chipset... because the 2.00 reference drivers are damn fussy.

Well, it uses the Prism 2.5 chipset so why would it not work? It was one of my alternate purchases at the time I finally got an Orinoco card.

I suggested the NL-2511cd with the perception that it MIGHT work. I am aware the CE2 is not the most stable with wifi, but if that is what he is after, than he might as well just get another Ce2.1 or higher device. I could not get my Orinoco to work properly on my Sharp HC-4500, and that was not a reference driver.
