Haven't seen one of these in person, but several folks here have talked about them. This is the one with the false bottom (which you can see in the pictures). Thought maybe a few folks here might be interested in a collector's item among collector's items.
Why would the person selling it list it for only $10 when it's so rare. That would be a good deal on a normal 680e. Why does it have the weird bottom, and how are you supposed to use CF cards or PC cards? Are you not?
EDIT: Never mind, they don't even know what they're selling... Is the OS even in English?
It has a false bottom that you can remove to have access to the slots. Those are really great machines. The 680 was my first HPC. If I am not mistaken, it was one of the Dutch Railroad Jornadas. I guess the false bottom helped balance the unit. The PCMCIA slot was really weird on those. There is a really really really long thread about the 680. really really long...
Oh I see. But then why hasn't CE Geek seen one? Could the false bottom be to protect the slots? Was it used by attendants on the train or something? I heard someone say before that 690s were fetching higher prices than usual now, is that true?
