Casio E-11 alternating contrast problem

On my E-11 the contrast often alternates, for example it jumps to a far too dark contrast and I need to apply a bending force to the case for the contrast to revert to normal and it's getting worst and worst.

Is this likely just the video cable that's loose or could it be more complicated?
