I just picked up a Linksys "Fast Ethernet 10/100 PC Card" model NP100 for $15.... It's 16 bit and NE2000 compatable. I havn't tested it yet myself, but I read it worked well. http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/IpaqHardwareCompatibility_2fEthernet
I hope I can get it working myself!

btw, you might want to note that handhelds.org is a site for linux based handhelds and not wince. Notice ze Penguin on top left!

On the bright side, if you install linux or a variant of *nix on your HPC, its possible to get it to work.

In the case of the link you pointed to, its for the iPAQ running Familiar 6.1 or something.

Linksys EtherFast 10/100 PC Card

Version 2 of the card just works, Version 3 complains "sorry, the AX88190 chipset is not supported.". Supposedly the newest version of pcmcia-cs (3.1.29?) has axnet_cs support

tuc@ttsg.com

I got a version 3 card working with Familiar 6.1 after modifying the /etc/pcmcia/config to remove the existing NE2000 entry for manufacturer id 0x0149, 0xc1ab and changing the entry for "Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Fast Ethernet" to :

card "Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Fast Ethernet"
manfid 0x0149, 0xc1ab
bind "axnet_cs"

The HPC has NE2000 drivers, but in my personal experience, combi 10/100 adapters are problematic with them.

Oh... I may have jumped the gun a bit then :-) I know I had read that NE2000 compatable cards are good, 16bit is the only thing that works, and etc so I figured they would work. When I get near a wired network, I'll yeild my results :-P

Pete,

Whatever happens with it, success or failure. Let me know and I'll get it into the HCL so that other users will know the low-down on it.

Well that sounds good too!!! I can test it on HPC 2.0 and 2.11, my 620LX and my Clio c-1050. I would be able to test on my Ipaq if somebody hadn't stolen it with it's MAD EXPENSIVE PCMCIA SLEEVE! :-P

mine isn't problematic
though i couldn't try the modem part of it on the MC16... didn't see the option for it in remote networking when creating a connection
