Weather Codes

Don't know how many of you use that desktop tool thingie on the CE6 netbooks, but the one I have only has a few cities listed.

Well the list of cities is kept in a text file named weather_list.ini and it is found in the \Program Files\wm_plg\SKINS\Weather folder on your CE device.

You can add your own local or custom cities to that list easy enough.

Go to weather.com and do a search for your city. For instance, I searched for Gulfport, Mississippi where my other house is located (and my surviving in-laws) and this is the url that comes up after the search: http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Gulfport+MS+USMS0145

The code you enter then in the weather_list.ini file is USMS0145. In the picture below, you can see my current search results for Big Rapids...USMI0084

That's because you are one of superior ability!

It is strange that they didn't implement a search function directly into the widget, it isn't much more work to do it. Perhaps we could create an international .ini file with major cities and keep it in H/PC:Update inside a little installer cab?

If people from different states/countries contribted their major cities it wouldn't take too long. I don't know how you'd organise the ini perhaps:
