Played a little with the registry today, and came across something.
Why isn´t there a SYSTEM.INI or WIN.INI?
What if I created one - would it have any effect, or don´t do anything at all? |

| CE explorer creates .ini files sometimes. It might do something. Check MSDN for the info. |

| Hmm...cant seems to find anything really related to the user.
Is there a chance to get the file sort order in Explorer permanent by "type"? |

| Most likely not. Use Total Commander 2.52 or 2.51 instead. |

| System.ini and win.ini were used by Windows for config and initial status settings under Windows 3 and lower. Under 9x and NT they are for legacy use only. They were used before Microsoft came up with the hive based registry concept that we have today. |

| Okay, thanks for the info. Didn´t know that.
Is there a way that I can force the system to automatically put all temporary/garbage/.unload data in a folder on my storage card? Like the old "set temp=" command did in the autoexec.bat file? A special registry key perhaps?
Can I arrange the system to make a file cache for faster access of the storage card? |

Registry: HKLM/System/FileSystem/TempPath
>Can I arrange the system to make a file cache for faster access of the storage card?
Yes, you can. The is a set of settings in HKLM/System/StorageManager which allow setting different cache settings for different storages. |

| Is that correct?
"HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/FatFS
Flags=Reg_Dword 0x000024"
"HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Filesystem"
"HKLM/System/System/StorageManager/FatFS
Buffersize=Reg_Dword 0x000080
Cachsize=Reg_Dword 0x0003e8
DataCacheSize=Reg_Dword 0x0003e8
Dll=Reg_sz Fatfs.dll
EnableCache=Reg_Dword 0x000001
Flags=Reg_Dword 0x000024
Paging=Reg_Dword 0x000001"

Yes, it is. It sets 1000KB cache and 128KB buffer for every FAT file system. You can also set the cache for FAT table (FatCacheSize ) to improve reading of huge directories (I had fair problems with 3000 files in single directory on my Sigmarion III ).
