When users get a chance, could you post a little about using Chromebook's word processor, especially offline?

I've tried using the equivalent of Google Docs Offline in Chrome/Chromium in XP and Linux, and the wp-ing hasn't impressed me yet. But that could be my older hardware.

Can you actually use this thing as a word processor? Headers/footers, manuscript punctuation (smart quotes, em dashes, ellipses, etc)? Google Drive seems to hassle users into using *.docx. In Google Docs, can you open, create, and save in *.doc?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Jake
