I was talking to my wife recently how much i like my Nokia Windows Phone 8 & that windows RT wouldn't be half bad in my eyes if i had one if it wasn't for the pricing on the hardware.

Well Dell outlet has some certified refurbs of their XPS 10 tablet & a coupon this past week which made it about $200 for just the tablet (will get the keyboard dock at a later date)...My birthday is coming up in Aug and she thought i would like one since i told her i miss having a tablet for certain things.

She ordered expecting to hide it till till Aug, but then realized i would end up finding out some how or asking for something else that would be unreasonable cost after buying it, so she told me it's on the way and i could have it early...

So if anyone wants to know anything about it once it's here sometime late next week let me know.

I would like to know how the SnapDragon S4 1.5Ghz performs. Is it snappy? $200 is very good price!

Interesting... RT acts just like & looks just like windows 8 (even has a desktop) than ce ever did, i mean to a T, i cant tell the difference between rt and x86 windows 8 so far.

As far as i can tell, the sleep works just fine for several hours, which is basically instant on.... had it on sleep all night long (9:30pm @ about 94%).. in the morning (10am or so) it was at 84%.

Continuous run time is suppose to be around 8-10 hours by it's self & 18-20 with the keyboard which has a built in rechargeable battery too.

This is currently CDN$300 at Dell Canada. Still tempting.

But I'm really considering the Surface RT, which is $500 but comes with free keyboard until Sunday... Man this is hard.

Some stores are offering free or cheap keyboard dock with the Asus VivoTab. But I figured the dock adds too much weight and size to the configuration, so much so that I'd not want to replace my laptop with it. This really highlights the benefits of the Surface touch cover, or even the type cover.

Even the Acer W510 (Win8, Atom, $600) had a free kb dock offer a while ago. Again bulk issue, but with x86 compatibility.

And then there's the OS upgrade gamble: will Microsoft upgrade the Surface RT to next version for free (or a small price), to compete with iPad? Will any other manufacturer offer upgrade?

I think I just convinced myself to get a Surface RT... I will see tomorrow.

Speaking of WIndows RT, In Japan, there is 10,000yen (about $100 USD) discount going on for Surface RT. SO it's only about $398... Tempting, but a little expensive for my taste. I'm beginning to like the whole Windows 8 UI... lol

From that i understand the Tegra 3 just doesn't perform near as well on windows rt as the snapdragon S4 does (look around on the web), something about optimization.... Upgrades are handled by Microsoft as far as i can tell, I'm installing 8.1 preview on it as i type this.
If it wasn't $200 with a coupon for this refurb, I more than likely wouldn't have one till the new one's come out & they discount the older ones.

Yes Sir, they apparently treat RT just like regular windows 8 when it comes to updates & such
