I'm not a coin collector, but I was digging outside today in the flower garden. Wife wanted to me to put a post in the ground to mount a birdhouse on. So I got my trusty shovel and went to town...digging a hole about 2 feet deep and a foot around. I sunk in a treated 4x4 and as I was filling it back up, I saw something like an old rusty penny.
I picked it up and guess what...it was a nickel. An old one. 1881 Canadian nickel...old and worn out, but still...what are the chances and where did it come from? This area I live in was once farmland, and before that it was a hunting ground for the indians and traders...I wonder what the history is behind this nickel...guess I'll never know...
Still kinda cool to find a coin over 130 years old...
