It looks like an old Heathkit something or other. But other than the Miller Lite, I'm lost...

Actually I do. It is the inside of my instrument cluster from my Buick LeSabre. The gauges have quit working. First it was the tac, then the fuel gauge, then temp, and now the speedometer is showing that I'm driving at 130mph or faster.

Seems GM built these things with faulty stepper motors from 2002-2005. Mine have been failing for 6 months. To replace the cluster, my Mr Goodwrench wants $720 cash. They replace the gauges, not fix them.

But you can buy the stepper motors and little light bulbs on eBay for around $20 if you don't mind doing it yourself....and for a $700 savings, I don't mind a bit.

There were numerous lawsuits against GM for this exact problem...but they outlasted the complaints and people just gave up. This LeSabre is a fine riding car, gets super gas mileage on the highway, handles great...but I'll hesitate to buy another GM product in the future. This car has had multiple problems that I've had to repair...both before and after the warranty expired...

For me the word LEMON comes to the forefront of my mind...
