As you know, Rich, I ran for a seat in the California State Assembly, the lower house of the Legislature. Result was the same, though. I thought it'd be interesting this time, but no such luck. I'm officially a three-time loser.
The seat was an open seat this time as the incumbent has served the maximum number of terms under California's term limit laws - which I never liked because it should be up to the people to decide, through their votes, when an elected official has served an office long enough. But we sure don't appreciate our right to vote here in the good ol' US of A. Turnout was barely 30% in my district. Compare that to the 97% in Scotland earlier in the year in the vote on whether to secede from the UK.
