| How did you get the Cisco card set up? I've got one for my Jornada 680 but can't get it to work. I've tried to get it to talk to my Netgear router, but it won't accept the password for the router!! Sometimes the green light flashes and sometimes it doesn't!!Do you have WEP enabled? Any help would be appreciated. |

| oh yeah. i can get well over 8 hours with continous wlan use... mean continous as _really_ continous, no idle time. so all the nights i browse on the 728 usually by the means of remote desktop so it's easier on the cpu maybe but absolutely not easier on the wlan card. and the wlan consumes more. between 100-300 mA. 100% cpu is around 60 mA or maybe more if on battery. i measured it only on AC... 60 mA then. |

| Neil, what do you mean by talking to the router. what password. just enable wep and type in the wep key. pay attention to the network settings for the wlan adapter in control panel as well if dhcp isn't enabled on the router! |

| Hi all!
I've been searching for quite a time at HPC: factor hoping I would find something about compatibility of the cisco aironet 340 pcmcia card with a HP jornada 680 (win CE 3.0 ) but I didn't find anything.
Could someone tell me if its possible to install this card on my jornada?
I just downloaded the driver for win CE 3.0 from the Cisco site, but I can't install it:
"Cisco Wireless LAN Adapter does not support the conected divece type. Application Manager will make the application available for installation when a supportes device is connected" .
The connection I use is an IR one (in case this matters )
Thanks!! |

| Yes you can. I have a J680, and I used this driver, works great. http://wireless.cofc.edu/download/Wireless_CD/CD%20Contents/WinCE/CE211/
You must have SP1 to use it. you can find that on the down load page.

| I think just about every other hardware post on this forum has a link to the HCL in it, and there are references from tip to toe of the actual web site... so you can't have searched that hard.
http://www.hpcfactor.com/qlink/?linkID=10
Secondly the 680 isn't a CE2.0 device, this is a CE2.0 area - please post in the correct thread in the future.
Thirdly, the 680 isn't a Windows CE 3 device, it's a CE 2.11 device. Hence the error message you are seeing in ActiveSync - see the numerous threads on the 680, and the few which talk about them being incorrectly sold as CE3.
Lastly I'm going out, see you rabble tomorrow - cmonex is in charge
(So don't make any sudden moves) |

| so even when it runs under win ce 3.0, it's a 2.11 device?
I searched at HCL, but it doesn't tell anything about win ce 3.0...thats why I posted this reply.
So when I use a 2.11 driver (thanks for the link ) it operates properly under win ce 3.0?
thanks a lot you guys!! |

| No, it does not run Windows CE 3.0, if you read system properties, it says: "Core system version 2.11". That's the CE version. What the text above says "Microsoft Windows For Handheld Professional Version 3.0" is the HPC Platform version, which may or may not be the same as the CE version
Hence, you'll need 2.x apps and 2.1x drivers. because it is a CE 2.11 device. But many people get confused because of the HPC version
Hope this helps |

yes it's 2.11 and it is NOT wince 3.0. wince 2.11 on hpc's are known as hpc pro too, and it will be under that name in the hcl (or simply 2.11, i don't remember now ). wince 3.0 on a hpc is equal with hpc2000. |
