Curious here. How well can you stream video or music from your server? How about transferring files? Fast enough for you? I've used Kilobytes as the measure to avoid confusion.

When testing make sure you transfer the file to your main memory. Writing to flash cards can slow down the results a lot.

Indicate you platform and WIFI card and anything else pertinent.

Cripes, I hit submit before I was done. I wanted to add a couple more choices for speed.
Any way to fix this?

Intermec 6651-Prism pcmcia WIFI (Belkin F5D6020 / DCF660) : 195Kb/s

Casio E200-Intel 2011B or same prism cards : 225kB/S

Both are more than adequate for me for streaming or copying files.

My download speeds always start off slow and speed up there, but I've never seen anything more than 100k (never seemed to download anything big enough).

Using an MA401.

I'll do an actual test when I get home. From real world experience, I have no luck with streaming video (it's no good when I play it off CF either though, most of the time) but music is decent.

yeah.. i can't vote as my speeds are better as those
download from internet: 250 kbyte/s with the 900 (my maximum download speed is 280... ADSL, a little over 2 mbps), 159 with the 728.. but i never did any thorough testing so they could easily be faster.
wlan network.. with activesync, over 200 (in both directions) with 728, little better with 900C. no idea without activesync, but it can only be faster

sorry i forgot to mention it is a senao nl-2511 CF wlan card in both machines

ok, i can try testing the speeds without activesync with a stopwatcher (with activesync and the TC plugin, TC measures the speed for me)
and platforms are hpc2000 (728) / ce.net 4.2 (900C)

I get more or less 150+ kbps on my wifi on the SL4, about the same speed as my desktop, which is on a 100 LAN PCI card.
