I supposedly got the server back but Godaddy won't let me renew the domain at the normal price but are asking 59GBP for the recovery because I'm late by 3 weeks on it and it's parked now
So I either wait until it's out of being parked and hope no one else buys it (I wouldn't expect anyone to, but Godaddy claims I can bid for it at 8 GBP currently???) or will have to get the .com domain
£59, that's criminal. The vultures!
Looks like they actually renewed it rather than letting it elapse, so it hasn't actually expired into a Renewal Grace Period, but the domain is registered to goDaddy, not to you. So they might legally be able to auction it with a clientProhibited status tag given they 'own' it.

Once registration expires, the domain name is placed under the status of RENEWAL GRACE PERIOD. While under this status, the original owner can still renew the domain name without incurring any additional fees. The length of the RENEWAL GRACE PERIOD varies depending on the registrar.

Based on ICANN rules however, the domain won't go into expired and be up for natural re-purchase until 18/07/
2019 (the date above + 70 days
).
