| It is likely that something else is the culprit. Like a failing inverter for the backlight, or the CCFL light itself. The sudden jolt of current from the adapter after it's been slow-cooking on battery power might have been too much for it. Quite similar to what happens when you flick a light switch on and the lamp suddenly dies. Inrush current overloads an already failing part. |

What does it say on the FCC/UL tag on the back under INPUT field?
How many volts?
How many amps?
Is it center-positive?
Does it contain Li-Ion or NiMH? |

Well, according to my math professor, "magic white smoke" is what makes a computer run--and when it escapes, the computer stops working. :+D
Honestly, I don't know what happened with my 660LX. I was using the proper equipment, but apparently, something associated with voltage and the display didn't mesh and the thing fried. Like I said, the processor and storage components still work. Sorry that I can't explain. |

Ditto. It's been a while, now, and the memory is rusty, but this sounds plausible. If I remember correctly, the display was acting a little tempermental a few days before *poof*! Your explanation would support this situation.

| I had to do a hard reset on my Jornada 820 because he didn't startup when I had done the "J680 65K collor display update" on the 820. Only after the hard reset I was able to start the 820 |

| My wife (and she isn't blonde, though she should be) was playing with a Mobilepro one day and she decided to push the reset button. She thought it was cool how it started everything out fresh. I wasn't too impressed and told her so, "Honey, I'll be impressed when I see you do a hard reset."
She then reset the thing again, nearly jamming the stylus all the way through the case...asking, "Is this hard enough for you?"
No lie...she thought a hard reset was one where you push harder....

FCC ID: NFJC600
INPUT VOLTAGE DC 12V 2.5A it has Ni-MH
It has an outer circle and an inner circle, and there is a hole in the center I know proton corp has them, but they are $40. Radio Shack has the head attachment, and I was thinking I could solder the head to a 12v 2.5a power supply I am not certian though. I have had this for over a month... I still have not been able to power it up  |
