Eureka!

Not easy to find this, so I thought I'd post it.

The Microsoft Windows CE toolkit for Microsoft Visual C++ development system makes it easy for developers using Visual C++ to apply their existing 32-bit Windows code and development experience to create Windows CE-based applications and take advantage of new market opportunities. The Windows CE toolkit for Visual C++ includes cross-compilers based on Microsoft C11 compiler technology for all supported processors MFC for Windows CE 2.0 along with versions of the MFC appwizard and classwizard for Windows CE and ATL for Windows CE 2.0 to easily create ActiveX controls for Windows CE-based development.

It's pricey at $109 US (closer to $210 at the time of release is seems).

Interesting site that RetroSoftware. You can get a compatible version of MS Money from it if you want to sync with your H/PC

Nick, if I remember rightly, the VB version was less than ideal: it didn't produce native .exe files, but rather files with a .vb extension which relied on components being present on the HPC.

I initially wasn't keen on using C or C++, but in the end decided to go that way as it's a lot easier and more professional looking in the long run.

Cheers,
Nick.

Hi,

Yeah, I know. I can't get my C++ eBook to display correctly on my J720 to read it, thats my excuse.

I will learn it one day. Its a steep learning curve, and pretty much back to basics.

Cheers,

Nick

So no different to eVB on eVT3

Poor form Microsoft. Is there really no way at all to .exe wrap from it?

To my knowledge, there's no way to wrap it up into a .exe which is indeed a shame

Nick, I'd really advise that you get Doug Boling's "Programming Windows CE" book, as it's a superb introduction to WinCE programming that assumes little to no knowledge of C. If you've programmed in other languages, C isn't difficult. C++ is another kettle of fish entirely , but mostly the book is implemented in straight C, with WinCE API calls used rather than MFC.

I have an old (revision 2) version of the book that I'm not using...

Cheers,
Nick.

On the contrary, Microsoft's system requirements would disagree:

Requires Visual C++ 6.0 Professional or Enterprise Edition

If anyone does buy this, or has a copy, can you look for one of the sample files for me. Mousedrv.cpp should have the source for the generic USB mouse in it. IF anyone could send me this file Ill be jumping for joy.

Looking forward to a customised mouse driver one day.
Thanks.

Did you try using XP's compatibility mode?
