I am trying to develop a simple MP3 player for my bSquare power handheld (ce.net 4.1).
This is due to the available MP3 players (utopiasoft hum & WMP) do not meet my needs.

The WMP in ce.net 4.1 is a tiny window and I cannot press the buttons!

Utopiasoft Hum often hangs when I try to open it.

I can write what I require in visual studio.net (as a windows application) and it works - I simply have a front UI with very large buttons & some MP3 tag information.

I tried to do the same in the smartdevice area for the PHH, but cannot find any media controls - what am I doing wrong or can this not be done.

All I actually want to do is pass parameters to ceplayer.exe to start, pause & stop a track - without displaying ceplayer.exe interface. That is what I effectively did on the windows application.

I hope someone can help!!!!

Have you looked at betaplayer? They will have a skin impliementation out soon.

It's advantage is that it plays wav, mp3, vorbis and may be wma - it'll play it under PPC not sure if it can mount the ce4 core codec - (as well as video formats) in one application.

Just my issue with TMPMP/betaplayer, why I'm waiting patiently for the skin impliementation - did you try installing the Windows Media Player 1.2 for ARM on it?
The one that comes with HPC2000 - no idea if it works.
You can get it in the downloads section.

Skinable already and big buttons.

Tried WMP for HPC2000 - it didn't work!!!!!!!!

If only the WMP with ce.net 4.1 was a full screen app or had bigger buttons then life would be complete.......

There are keyboard shortcuts to control Media Player. I know the keys are also little on the PHH But perhaps you could make an app to send keyboard messages so you can control Media Player with it.

Do you mean Winampaq? Winampaq looks like winamp, but there is no affiliation as far as I know. It was my prefered player on my Jornada 720 (HPC 2000). I can get one of the builds of Winampaq to run on my Netbook Pro (CE 4.20), although there is a dll error window that pops up on startup (it seems to be otherwise functional). I would love to get GSPlayer working on my Netbook Pro, if Cmonex cares to spill the beans. TCPMP does a decent job of audio file playback, but the UI is really designed for video.

Winampaq is available here:

and Gsplayer is here:

Rocketman, just tell me what errors execheck throws at gsplayer.
the errors were something like missing functions between 442-454 in coredll on the bsquare PHH... that is easily fixable. let me know if the netbook pro has the same problem.

Seems to do the trick! You should put up the hacked exe on your site. GSPlayer appears to be skinable, too.
