internet lan connection to Mobile pro 780

Please help. i just brought lan pcmcia card 16 bits, 10/100. wireless lan card. now i install it port 1 mobile pro 780. when i make the new connection. it does not connect to host. it says no carrier is found. my host pc is direct cable connectin. i brought this card from ebay. it specification almost match with 780. IEEE , i also install wireless router 802.11g/ b . Lan card IEEE is 802.3/802.2 . please help any suggestion soon.
