The system requirements page at http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/products/applications/mappoint/requirements.mspx mentions CE 2.11 as a valid target for Pocket Streets that comes with MapPoint 2004. Unfortunately, that's not true -- it only supports CE 3.0 and up. Good thing I downloaded it from MSDN to check.

I tried to install it yesterday. I bought it a year ago for my Toshiba and wanted to install it on the Jornada. I checked the website to make sure it would work and ended with the same results that you did.

I'm sure you've done so already, but I've lodged a content discrepancy with Microsoft on the page.

Preacher, OT but congratulations you got the 1,000th forum post.

Haven't done this, actually, but I did post about this to a private MS newsgroup (which I'm not sure anybody reads).

Group, I've got a formal reply from Microsoft on it.

I've got another one in with them at the moment on the incorrect use of Windows CE 3 when referring to H/PC Pro :p

Small Business Web site comments: The following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/products/applications/mappoint/requirements.mspx

States that Handheld PC's running 2.0 and above and PS-PC's running 2.11 above are compatible.

This is incorrect. The last CE client version to support 2.0 and 2.11 was in MapPoint 2002.

There is a thread here on our forums providing anecdotal evidence of this:

I sent them one and got the same message.

BTW, why did you use "English (United States)"? Aren't you British?

My computer is fully set to UK regional.
It is however a matter of common American insidiousness to report all English speakers as 'United States'.
The British Jornada does, and the MS commentary system does

Just an update here on our little crusade here.
http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/products/applications/mappoint/requirements.mspx

Microsoft have now corrected the errors.

Shame they didn't fix it by releasing a new 2.00, 2.11 client eh
