MP790 Active Sync over a LAN connection?

I'm new here and just recently acquired an NEC MP790. I like the fact that I can actually see the screen and type on the keyboard. I've owned several other PDA and PocketPC devices, but this one seems very promising and useful.

I have a 3Com 3C1 LAN card. Is there a way to get ActiveSync to work over a LAN connection as opposed to using the serial cable connection?

What brand of Serial-to-USB adapter will work with this unit?

Any help would be appreciated.
