The theory is good. In practise though...
I have three different ne2000 10/100 adapters. I've tried them on 2.0, Pro and HPC2000. None of them work.
The 2.00 device actually hard resets!
I base this purely on an assumption... but I think you want to aim for a 10mbps ne2000 rather than a 10/100. That is all I can attribute my experiences to.
As cmonex says, if you have any successes -or- failures. Please do spend a few minutes submitting them on the HCL form.

i tried only one and had success with it right away.. that's why i thought the theory is closer to practice...
mine is a 10/100 + modem combo.. and that's supposed to be even more problematic
