We'll just have to see I guess... I really would like to be able to stay a part of the community, and that really makes me want to just demand a pristine unit but on the other hand, I am not guaranteed that and ... secretly I really want to be able to say: "It plays Doom!" Just kidding. Once I get the return done, I can start looking for a new HPC I guess. Of course, this is assuming they will take it back!

Oh I'll post tomorrow night when all is said and done...

what community, NEC mobilepro?
or why is it a problem if you're seized by the possibilities in HPCs (just like me) and get another hpc?

I meant the HPC Factor community of course... Wouldn't want to be seen toting my piddle.

Hehe, good point! Variety is the spice of life, as Rich put it on hpcBay. Those J728's are pretty, as are the Intermec 6651's. Oh the possibilities!

All in good time I guess.

Called Unity, they were reluctant to give me an RMA number but when I ceded the 10% restocking fee they sent me a number immediately. I will be sending my 790 back and hopefully getting a refund.

I'm not entirely sure just yet. I just came into some money, but I am not sure if I should spoil myself and buy another HPC...

The 900C and J728 are looking good. Not sure the price tags on those though.

oh.. well if the J728 had a successor to it (which it doesn't ..), it wouldn't cost that much. but as it is the last of the wonderful jornada series, it's a little overpriced you can't really get it for less than 3-400$. maybe a J720 + ram upgrade or dead 728.. that's cheaper.
900C? buy a 900 and upgrade it (with a little luck though). but the 900 is still pricey, not below 400$ either.
maybe you could save up a little money for them! or go with the J720, that's not too expensive!

If it were me in your shoes, I'd look long and hard for an Intermec 6651. TFT screen, nice big honkin' resolution? I know what I'm salivating for.

that was exactly what i wanted to say, as i forgot to mention the intermec in the earlier post

my opinion is this: the best hpc's are j728, 900C, sigmarion 3, intermec 6651 (in no particular order)!

Hehe, the Intermec sounds very nice, TFT's are gorgeous.

Haven't seen any of those though...

Anyone know where I could look at one?

Unless you know somebody who has an Intermec, I doubt it They're kinda rare (not that the 790 isn't, I've never met someone else who has one).
