Hello,

first of all, I am new here. So, greetings to everyone.
I've always liked PDA with built-in keyboard. My first PDA was ipaq rx 3100. A month later, I sold it and bought myself ipaq 4350. I loved it and I still do. It's perfect for a simple telnet/SSH2 session to servers.

While owning ipaq 4350, I wanted something bigger. After shopping for weeks, I decided to get NEC mobilepro 790 instead of 900c. 900c seemed ridiculously expensive.
I also purchased Roamabout wireless network PC card which I was told it will work on NEC 790. I installed win CE driver for it and the 790 accepted the driver and PC card. The card would flash its two lights and it seems working.

However ..., I cannot seem to get IE4 to connect to internet.
I am trying this at my house. My house has a netgear wireless access point device connected to netgear firewall router. I already have my other computers connected via wireless and are working fine.

I am quite clueless in this trouble. Any help would be thanked.

Thank you.

Welcome,

Download and install vxUtil onto the device:
http://www.hpcfactor.com/qlink/?linkID=36

Head for the info tab while she's all lit up, and if you copy paste what it says into here, we'll go from there

According to this your Roamabout isn't getting a network IP address. Looks like you need to look at your configuration, or try manual assignment.

When the IP address: field for hte Roamabout becomes a 192.168 number, the subnet is 255.255.255.0 and there is a 192.168 value in default gateway it will be setup correctly.

I had the same issue, everything looked perfect etc etc... but no IE connection...

I know this sounds stupid, but power off the device, wait 20 seconds, then power it on again. The device will renew its IP and everything, and it might just work.

That's all I had to do after installing the driver and everything. After I set up my WEP key, I had to power cycle it.

Good luck!

There are some issues I see.

A CD that contained winCE drivers wouldn't work on mobilepro 790. So, I had to search web for a winCE 2.11 driver.

This driver has very little configuration options. It doesn't accept WEP key, either, and it wouldn't accept MAC address, either.

Does anyone have a link to a proper driver ?
