| Shouldn't need a program. Just get the APN, etc in order on the Nokia, and dial in through the Psion. If that doesn't work, post your specs on both devices.

| Thanks Jake. It is well configured on the 9300, considering it can go on internet and download mails.
but I have no idea on the settings to use on the psion.
I have a psion 5/mc218.
I should set something on “control panel” - “dialling”? Or “internet”? Or “modem”?
Many thanks
Alberto

| In System/Modems, do New, name it Test. Then:
Baud = 115200
Connect = Infrared
Fax Class = Auto
Second page (Options):
No changes
Third page (Initialization):
Init = ATZ
Everything else blank
Fourth page (Advanced):
Flow control = Hardware
Terminal detect = ticked
Carrier detect = ticked
Modem Type = fixed line
Save.
In System/Internet:
New, name it GPRS
Show connection dialing = ticked
First page (Service):
Connection type = dial-up
Use smart dialing = UN-ticked
Standard dial-up number = *99# (match this number with your carrier; mine is TMobile)
Second page (Account):
You could leave blank, or use "user" "password" Shouldn't matter.
Third page (Addresses)
Get IP address from server = ticked
Get DNS address from server = ticked
Fourth page (Login)
All UN-ticked
Fifth page (Advanced):
Only thing ticked is "Allow plain text authentication"
Save.
If you're using Web, don't try google.com, try 68k.news
Even with Opera, the ssl's are out-of-date, so there's very little to surf. Ditto for email, unless your incoming port can be set to 110.
If you get a connection, but can't get into 68k.news, then dumb down the baud to 56K on BOTH devices.
Good luck,
Jake

| I just ran my specs again and I got on-line. So:
1) you've set up the Nokia incorrectly, though I don't see how, since you say you can get on-line with it, by itself
2) your phone service no longer permits this kind of connection
3) download c:amie's gprs/ir app and try to get on-line with your N and J-720

2) your phone service no longer permits this kind of connection. it is Iliad and it can work as router
3) download c:amie's gprs/ir app and try to get on-line with your N and J-720I would try with the J720 to see if the Nokia 9300i allows the J720 to surf.

| Yes, try step 3. If you can connect the J720 to the N, you should be able to do the same with the Psion. I do. Though I don't have the wifi version of the 9300.

| Is theJ720 irda working on COM3?
I tried to follow this guide "https://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/475/HPCFactor_Generic_IrDA_Modem_Driver/version_1.0.0.04"
with no success. It immediately says "the computer you are dialing is not answering. Try again later"
As number to call, I used *99#. Is it correct? |

| As I said earlier, you have to check with your carrier for the correct number. |

| I can't tell what's going on, but the connection is failing on two different devices, two different OSs.
So, without actually being there, that tells me it's on the Nokia side, or your carrier.
Google your carrier with keywords of your specs and see what you come up with.
c:amie's app is airtight; I just connected with my 9300 and WinCE 2.0, so I know it works.
