Hello,

I found a MSAC-PC2 adapter and I buy a 256MB Memorystic2 memory, formated in FAT-16, but when I connect the adapter to the PCMCIA port ask for the name of the driver, I tray with MSAC-PC2, and do nothing. I have a 320LX palmtop with WinCE 2.0.

I'm seeing conflicting information about whether this card is supported by Windows CE. Sony's Web page on this card mentions Windows CE as a compatible OS, but none of the manuals I can find online for this card mention Windows CE. It appears someone else tried this card with a newer Hewlett-Packard H/PC (Jornada 720) and it didn't recognize the card either.

Normally, card adapters like this don't require special drivers, so when you insert it and the 320LX asks for a driver name, try typing in atadisk.

I used Sony MemoryStick with CE back in the day to test if it works. It's why the https://www.hpcfactor.com/hcl/detail.asp?hcdid=202 is in the HCL

I remember SONY was using Memory Stick for their stuff for a very long time until the became lenient and started using SDs as well.

I think that initially they were the better standard, however the open standard overtook them and rightly won out.

I guess the SD being open standard and being used by so many devices that came afterwards was the reason it won. I remember my cellphone's memory card being SD (Toshiba cellphone) then miniSD (Toshiba cellphone) to microSD (HTC smartphone). Good thing they didn't make it any smaller!

Finally I have an original memory sticks, but somthing extrange is happening, if I format the memory in a computer with ms-dos the 320 can read the memory, otherwise can't read at all and the driver problem hapend, even if the ms-dos computer can read the memory.

The next step is format the memory in windows, or linux, but I have low spectations, also I can't format all the memories in the old pc because the low memory in my ms-dos pc.

This may help you if you're on Windows 10:

https://aesmit.org/2020/05/24/format-sd-card-fat16-on-windows-10/

On Windows 7:

You might also want to search for "format FAT 16" in this forum as well, as there are quite a few discussions about it.
