| There are folks that have gotten Linux running on the HC-4000 and 4100 units.
I cant find all the info, but this is some of it
https://linux-mips.linux-mips.narkive.com/o7taWofw/sharp-mobilon-hc-...
I have a 4000 and would like to try this. Any help would be awesome :- )

| ^ Thank you ;-)
Someone on here mentioned the older Zaurus software from the ZR series can run on the 4000 series Sharp units. Didnt know if someone could fill me in on more info.
Im still waiting on that damn 9pin to USB adaptor lol and I have not gotten the CF to PCMCIA adaptor either. So im in what I call a serious "hold" hehe. Cant wait to be able to install all the software onto these units I have. I really like this Sharp 4000, honestly other than the backlight I like it better than my 360LX and thats always been my fav of the grey scales. Keyboard is just like my Sharp ZR-3500X. Only real complaint is no CF card slot and the backlight. Very nice palmtop imho. Someone is selling a color unit that needs the battery replaced, but only reason i have not bitten on that is I want a 680 or 720 so I can install Linux. So if I can install linux on a 4000 series Sharp i could for now skip out on the 680 or 720.

| Works for me!
Also, FYI, BSD is Unix, not Linux. |

I need to reiterate this--no, the Z apps do NOT run on CE. The only conduit is a Sharp-made PDA conversion program that supposedly converts Z contacts, etc into something readable by the Mobilon. Conversion only, no Z apps on CE.

| ^ Oh ok I gotcha. ;-)
Still interested in the app that does this, itd be nice to be able to take documents I type on my 3500X and be able to transfer them in a readable form to the 4000. If that is apart of what you speak of.

| I just noticed today that the serial cable had never been taken out of the plastic. This thing was never really used it seems. Even the way things were packed in the original box, looked like someone messed with it for a week and put it back in the box and that was that.

| The Zaurus-to-Mobilon app is called Intellimigrate. PM me if you need it, but for back-and-forth doc conversion, I think you need the Sharp desktop package called Zaurus Application Partner. If I remember correctly, ZAP would convert Z docs to .rtf or .doc (Word 97). I don't know if ZAP can run on Win10, etc.

| I need to rebuild the battery pack on this color unit tho. It holds a charge for about 20mins and then thats that.
Glad the stuff I have for my 4000 is compatible with this 4600. Still wish these sharps had CF slots. But I like they keyboard a lot
reminds me of my ZR-3500X. Still looking for a ZR-5800, seems the price on those has gone up. Last month I saw some for $40 and now
they are $80-100+.

| Other than proof of concept, it doesn't truly matter, but I seem to recall that the 4600 battery pack will work with the 4000/4100. Would that be true?
