The issue with WMI is that 'things need it', but you can disable Windows Management Instrumentation in services.msc. I'd try and find a different driver version next.

I'll send you all the details.
I no longer have the CD as I lost it. I found these drivers.
Identified by Windows 10 as: Realtek RTL8188SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter
These are the ID hardware:
USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8171&REV_0200
USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8171
Only site that has drivers for windows 2000:
https://www.wireless-driver.com/devices/wid/4688/
Device:
https://www.amazon.es/Keyteck-NET-WN683NA-300Mbit-adaptador-tarjeta/...
These are the drivers, which if I install creates the problem of the processor, which often works at 100%
Now I don't know if there are other driver, better ones!

One more thing, I installed everything except MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1.
I have installed MDAC 2.5 Service Pack 3 but windows won't let me install MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1. I think it wants MDAC 2.7 RTM ??
MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2 installs it but creates errors as a different language, therefore ignored.
Message that appears when I try to install MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1:
Invalid product version for upgrade.
The installed product version is 2.53.6307.0 while the update requires
the version (s) of MDAC 2.7 SP1 (2.71.xxxx.x)
Do you know where to find an Italian version? I can try to install the English one, but I think it will give problems.

For the rest all up to date. Windows works great!

Try the XP drivers https://www.realtek.cz/download-driver-nr-427-for-realtek-RTL8188SU-and-WindowsXP-32bit.html

What does the patching guide say about MDAC?

The MDAC patch guide? I have no idea where to find it.
Anyway the drivers you have suggested, do not accept them. But by chance I found another site, which had older ones. I installed those and everything seems to be working perfectly.
I noticed, just a slowdown on startup, when loading network connection settings.

I installed Odyssey Client 4.52 ch it is lighter than Boingo.
I think now, finally after a long time, the PC is ready!
Missing the finishing touches and testing it for a few days.

Did you mean this guide ?! Yes, I updated following this guide. Only update not done is WMP9 as it is too heavy. Everything else is installed, except MDCA. It does not allow me to update the current version.

Yes, because 2.8 asks me for the previous version.

huh?

Yes, it asks me for the previous version to install 2.8. If it's strange to you, think of me as I don't understand anything.

Can you supply a screenshot of this? I've never seen anything like that and I installed Windows 2000 SP4 last week on a VM and it took 2.8 without a problem.

I forgot, but do you know that Norton 2001 servers are still active? I have updated the program!
Thanks for using LiveUpdate
All symantec products installed on the computer are up to date. Check for updates again in the future.

Ah, I downloaded it from: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/home.aspx like all the updates that are in the guide. I thought this too was the complete installation.
Then I can't install it. I have no idea where to find the complete program in Italian.

I have another problem. This did not occur when I did not have the wifi card installed and the various services for navigation enabled. I repeat it did not show up, but now it does, and I do not understand the connection!
practically if you use the PC normally, everything works regularly, but if I try, for example, to use Office Word and at the same time listen to music, the PC begins to behave in a strange way, like heavy, fatigued. Music freezes, PC slows down. If I stop listening, everything goes back to normal.
Even simple operations like clicking the start button stop the music.
Programs are not started or started late.
It is as if the CPU fails to do two jobs together.
I made a video. So you can understand better.
