You mean that the machine can boot from the 95/98 CD but NOT 2000?

Sounds like the 2000 CD is missing its boot sector. Try a different CD/ISO.

Have you got a different CD/DVD drive you can put in to try?

Or can you find out if the drive has any firmware updates?

OK I solved. I had to burn the CD differently.
I had to select the Disc 96 writing method.
Now I just have to wait for the new CF ordered from China.

At the level of curiosity; i found this XP ISO
https://archive.org/details/super-nano-xp
I formatted it with the settings used for Win2000. But the CD does not start.
I noticed that there is no classic AutoRun file inside the XP CD. In fact, if I insert the CD it doesn't start.
Is there any way to get it started? I would be curious to try Windows XP.
It is declared for this modified ISO:
Requirements:
CPU: 100 MHz of faster
RAM: 20 MB or higher
NOTES: For installing is 64-128 MB of RAM

My IBM fully meets these requirements!
I also tried this Italian version, but it has the same problem.

I don't know anything about it, if one assumes that the ISO has a boot sector, try it in any other PC and see if it boots. If it doesn't, there's your problem. If it does, then as I said before, try a different CD/DVD drive or see if there are any firmware updates for the drive.

As you can see from the image, the firmware version is 0100.

From DOS with windows 95 startup disk, I try to upgrade.
This is what it looks like:

It says the GDR-8161B0102.dld file can't find it, but it's on the floppy along with the execution file!

There is no 8.3 file. Or I don't understand. When I downloaded the file and extracted it, I found only these files inside:
Flashup.exe
GDR-8161B0102.dld
JD2.BAT
readme(ed).txt
I also tried from the disk, putting all the files in the C:\Temp folder

These are the Readme instructions:

Readme GDR-8151B Version ver. 0102 Firmware Update To update the firmware of the GDR-8161B please refer to the following instructions: Note: Not following the subsequent update instructions explicitly will result in permanent damage to your drive, for which LG will not be responsible. This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below ver. 0101. The drives must be original LG branded drives with model number GDR-8151B(no OEM units). If you have an OEM unit, branded with another manufacturers name, please contact that manufacturer for support and firmware updates. " the GDR-8161B0102.dld file name is firmware for firmware upgrade of your DVD-ROM drive " " the JD2.bat & flashup is firmware excute program for download ¡Ø Critical Instructionsto be followed carefully) To upgrade Windows 98/95 1. Remove inserted disc in DVD-ROM Drive and Connect to only master of seconary port. 2. Download the Firmware and Execution file to the same folder(ex: c:\>temp) 3. Check the Firmware and Execution files(GDR-8161B0102.dld, JD2.bat and flashup.exe) 4. Boot the computer as Real DOS(not windows dos mode) mode 5. Excute to JD2.bat (eg: c:\temp\JD2.bat) if you downloaded this file in this directory) eg: c:\temp\>JD2 (all files are in same directory) then press enter. Prior to upgrading to Windows 2000/ME/XP Note: If you have Windows 2000, ME, or XP already installed, you will need to create a bootable disk from another operating system like DOS, Win95 or Win98 in order to process this firmware update. Follow the steps below. After the bootable disk is created and the files are extracted to the bootable disk, follow the steps starting 1. Place: A blank floppy diskette in your 3.5¡± disk drive A: 2. Double-Click: My Computer Icon on your desktop 3. Right-Click: The drive letter that is the 3.5¡± drive. 4. Choose : Format. 5. Choose: Copy System Files Only, Click OK. 6. Download the Firmware and Execution file to the same folder(ex: c:\>temp) 7. Copy: The Firmware and Execution file to the new folppy diskette 8. Let: The PC Make the disk bootable. 9. Re-Boot your PC with the bootable disk in Drive A: (Note: you may need to change your boot sequence in the CMOS Setup in order to boot to drive A. Please see your motherboard manual for instructions or contact your PC manufacture for instructions on changing the boot sequence.) 10. At the A:\>JD2 (all files are in same directory) then press enter. IMPORTANT- DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE DRIVE DURING THIS PROCESS. When the UPGRADE is complete the screen should indicate FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL. Remove the bootable disk and Re-boot your PC. The update will be complete, after you reboot your system. Isn't it that I have to set up the DVD correctly?
In the photo it is set like this:

I have two IDE slots. In the first there is the adapter connected to the CF, in the second the DVD.
How do i have to set the jumper correctly?

MS DOS cannot read long files names. All DOS files have to be in 8.3 format.
Rename the firmware file so that it is no more than 8 characters before the . and 3 after e.g.

FILE102.dld

Perfect! Successful update!
With you we learn many new things.
Unfortunately the XP CD does not start

EDIT:
I think I was wrong last time. In truth, Windows 2000 doesn't boot either.
I burned with the iso9660 option, but it doesn't work.
