ArchiMark,

Glad to see you are getting good progress on the Intermec 6651 battery.

I hope you get a good contact from the repairman.

After watching the entire video, all I can say is bloody heck......krikey.....

The mind boggles.....

Although it makes me think that if there were HPC's before 1971, there would have been a big market for an app for calculating making change in transactions.

Now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast.....

Drove to the computer repair shop on way home....

Guy I spoke to on the phone earlier in the day looked very puzzled when I said I was there to drop off battery to get re-celled.....he said you mean replaced? I said it's about 20 years old, so, not very easy to find a replacement battery....hence my asking him on phone about re-celling....realized he didn't know what I meant, had to explain.....he said he didn't think they could do that.....but....he did say, he had some contacts he could call to see if he could source a new battery....said he should have some news for me tomorrow.....hopefully.....

We shall see.....

Base 10, 20 and 12 in one currency: they're crazy these Britons (and now you know why!)

As to the battery: argh

Actually, if you re-read my post, it is not good progress.....

Meanwhile, I found the equivalent battery for the Sharp Telios HC-7000 that uses the same battery as the Intermec 6651.
It is part number HC-BL02.

I found one that appears to be sold here:

https://www.monotaro.com/p/3300/8026/

Can you please let me know if it really available and if they would sell and ship it to me in USA?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi.
It probably is available, but you need to send in the battery to get it recelled.
Which will cost USA -> Japan, Japan to USA, which is not good, imo. (I don't think they will send to USA btw.)

Thanks for checking and your input, stingraze. Really appreciate it!

Well, hopefully, I will find a way to get battery or re-celled.....

Just spoke with the computer repair shop....he could not find a replacement battery through his sources......

Not surprised.....

Oh well....

Does anyone have any suggestions how/where to get battery re-celled?

Thanks!

Consider that maybe the cells are not the problem, but the printed circuit board inside the battery pack...

OK, good point.....thanks......

Guess I wouldn't know unless the cells are replaced and then try to charge?

Any other suggestions on battery?

Or am I stuck with having to use it only with AC adapter?

Thanks.

Can you try looking up / making calls to places in SF, Sacramento, and LA?

Those are the nearest large metro areas. I’m inclined to have you try LA first. There’s gotta be a place that can.

Thanks for the suggestion.....will give that another try....

I did come up with a place in S Cal, but it turned out the business seems to have ceased operations. Unfortunately, I placed order online with them before realizing this...tried calling, know someone was on the phone, but wouldn't say a word....very weird...

Wish devices all used standard batteries and not proprietary ones....life would be so much simpler........

Sigh.....

What about a company like https://www.mtobattery.com/pages/custom-battery-build-services I know that they are on the wrong side of your country, but there must be someone nearer offering a rebuild service who will do the soldering for you.

I second what Camie says.
If you find a place in LA let me know because maybe if I happen to be in the area (I live about 6 hours away) and maybe I can scope it out for you.
I can’t promise anything. I just mean if I happen to already have plans in LA and I can bundle it with that.
Anywya just keep us in the loop.
