My bad, you already addressed that! Let me see if I can find one for the right runtime |

| Not surprised about the .pbv issue. After all these days, it's nice to finally make some progress with it.
Is a (not ADO) .vb working?
So, what type of device is your device that it is incompatible with 486? Please start at 686 and work backwards, we know that CEF does work.

| It is the CEF cab! I have no clue why it's not taking the normal 486 ones. It's a digital media receiver, some kind of later adaptation of MSN TV rebranded judging from the way the case looks. The system lists the CPU as Intel Corp., i486

Try any that have HP t5540 marked as compatible (that's my x86 thin client ) You may have to extract the .cab if there's no raw vb or x86 ver |

| Did you try the 386, 586 and 686 CAB's to see if any of those install without the error? |

386, 586, 686 - > Disappears
486, CEF - > Installs successfully, VBCE2.0 works, VBCE1.0 does not |

| I should also figure out all the registry entries and files associated with the runtime (hoping that none of those registry entries have an equals sign in them), so I can get it to stay on my volatile system |

torch, does the 686 work on your x86 okay? Sounds like we need to stop building for 486 and build for Pentium II!
Edit: I see you already answered. So your device needs 486 and IDFB's needs 686.
That is monstrously annoying!
Your device doesn't display any error messages. So it seems that the fact the thing just exits out isn't a corrupt CAB, it's that something is either wrong with the installer's error handling on your x86 device or CE 6 doesn't have any |
