No. You cannot upgrade.

The OS is stored in Read Only Memory (ROM). Sorry.

depends on what model you have, you can upgrade the simpad sl4 or the nec mp900 for example.

hm.. i was always wondering if the 790 has flashrom or not.. you see it has some user accessible flash rom, but what about the OS?

I'd guess if the 790 has 8mb of flash for the user the other 24mb of flash is where the OS lives.

hm.. i was always wondering if the 790 has flashrom or not.. you see it has some user accessible flash rom, but what about the OS?


The MP790 has 16 MB of Flash memory built in to the unit. 2MB is reserved for OS patches, while the other 14 MB are available for user applications. The actual OS itself is in a removable ROM module, like the module in the MP780. The Flash memory is not on this module - or at least you don't get access to the Flash when you put a 790 ROM in to a 780 unit.

aha! thanks for the explanation.
you shouldn't mind losing the flashrom, you can get a memory card instead...

hm.. 16 MB.. if you can fit ce.net on it, then there's a chance, hehe (though i think it can't be done properly in 16 MB)
