| Hello,
I'm making a new topic for people that followed the "Piano simulator for H/PC" one.
Actually I've talked about an IRC client made by me in it, but it wasn't the subject, and was only in available French language.
Today is a great day because I have made a few changes to it :
* The interface is fully in English ;
* Timestamps are displayed in 12H format, in stead of the standard European 24H format.
Here is the binary : https://www.monokeros.ovh/share/monirc11_en.zip
The ZIP file is ~4MB in size, but if you already have the Portable VB runner, it might not take so much space.
Next time, I should come up with a Paint software, but it's still under development.
See you next time,
LordEmilio |

Nice work!! This is amazing. I haven't had a chance to play with it just yet, but I'll keep you updated as I do so.
Is the timestamp time format an option setting or is it only 12H now? Edited by torch 2023-02-12 5:21 AM

| English version now has the 12H format, and it cannot be changed.
Like the American notation for sheets in "PetitPiano" which is set by default and not changeable.
If some people find it a bit weird, I can make another version where it's a settable option. xD |

| Don't tar all of us in the English first language world with the same weird things America's do brush!
You'll wind up measuring Channel active user counts in cups next
How many IRC channel users in a US standard cup I hear you ask? Why 11.6437, of course
Viva la SI! |

| I should have set it as an option.
Actually, I have thought about the fact that English doesn't mean "12H system" or "°F" or even "A, B, C, D, E, F, G" for musical notes.
But in Europe, it's actually 24H system, °C and Do, Ré, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si for musical notes.
UK uses both 12H and 24H according to Wikipedia. Even in France, I'm not shocked to see the AM or PM system to display time, as all of our analog clocks are all 12H.
I'm more astonished by the use of Fahrenheit degree system for temperatures. It's never used in Europe, only in the USA, but I'm trying to convert that in my head, 1°F = 2,5°C I think.
Regards,
Matthias

| I have to tell you that a lot of us Americans also find it very strange that we as a nation stubbornly refuse to adopt the SI system.
Anyway, 24H time, please!
Does your IRC client support encryption by chance? Either way, looking forward to trying it out. |

| I don't know, I think °K is more likely a universal way of calculating temperature.
About ciphering, no, there are none, because it would slow down drastically the execution of the program under the H/PC.

Roger, thanks for the response. Seems like it doesn't matter as much with IRC vs some other chat protocols, I was just curious. I'll plan to check it out, thanks! |

| I wish everyone used 24H time. It’s so much more efficient. I do get confused sometimes remembering which countries I’ve traveled to use which system. When I’ve been to Mexico, I’ve seen both systems used I think? But I was only ever near the border, not more interior. |

| So in conclusion, I'll have to add it more like an option rather than a regional feature?
I was not expecting that that way.
I will have to release another version, I think

| It wasn’t intended as a slight against you. I was just ranting about the time formats in general. Don’t mind me!
Either way, excited nonetheless!! |

| Yeah I got that, but you know, those system time differences between countries are what bug me.
However even the UK already uses both 12H and 24H time system. |

Question for you both. I was looking at the compatibility data for monirc here
https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/2083/Monokeros/MonIRC/version_1.1.0?page=compatibility
And it looks like a Casio A-20 running CE2.0 was marked compatible. I thought MonIRC was a VBCE2.0 program (for CE2.11 or higher / .vb file extension ) as opposed to VBCE1.0 (for CE2.00 / .pvb file extension )?
Am I mistaken or are there certain programs than can run using either runtime ?
If so I need to fix the system requirements saying CE2.11 is required |

| No, there is no universal runtime |

| I've tested it many times under my Casio Cassiopeia A-20, it's running Windows CE 2.0 and PVB (unsure about the version number).
Works fine.
