Hi DOS Palmtop lovers everywhere......

Wanted to introduce my recently growing DOS Palmtop family......

You probably recognize the little guy, but mighty HP 200LX....

My two recent acquisitions are the Tidalwave PS-1000 and Sharp PC-3100 behind it in the group photo.
Both are in excellent, almost like condition. Each has two card slots.

DOS is boss, baby......

Enjoy.....

Mark

I really like that Sharp! The silver around the screen looks...well...sharp.

The keyboard looks similar to the MobilePro.

Thank you!

Yes, sharp always has sharp displays.....same on all the various Zaurii I have had.......

But the Tidalwave display is very readable too....

And yes, one of the big pluses for the two big brothers is their large keyboards......nice!

As well as the large displays compared to the 200LX....although I love the 200LX....

I was afraid you'd say that.....

But I will try to do so.....

Although I would like to wait a little bit as I want to do a few things with these lil' bad boys first.....

200LX

- setup 200LX to work with my Pentax PocketJet3 printer. I had this working just before parting with my prior 200LX a year ago or so.

- setup 200LX to work with mouse (per radiance's video). Have the parts now to do this.

- setup 200LX to work with Win 3.x. Hence, reason to get mouse working....

- probably a few other use cases to try....

Sharp / Tidalwave

- Get them to work with CF cards. Have the driver files to do this. But have to get the files onto the devices first, which is the tricky part, since right now, I'd need to put the files onto sram card and then transfer to c drive internally. Only problem is currently, I have no pc that will work with a sram card....catch 22....sort of....so, working on addressing this issue....

- Once I either sram card to work with one of my laptops or get CF cards working then transfering files, apps, to the devices should be easy. And get have some fun with other apps.

That's my current plan.....

Mark

Man, I am so impressed. Where did you find the Tidalwave and the Sharp? Ebay?

Edit: for the larger machines, you might try the Tenavolts rechargeables. They're expensive but I found they were the ones that did the best in my Omnibook.

Very nice indeed. But I wonder the intrigue of these things. Is it the compact design, ahead of its time, a forefather of the HPC as we know it, or is it the DOS operating system?

How about a Tosiba Libretto with MS-DOS as its primary OS?

I remember going to Hamfests and fellow radio enthusiasts with their HP95s running a variety of software during events...primarily as a logging tool during contests...but some used them as CW generators. I just used a laptop myself...

Thanks......think for me it's the combination of all the things you mention, and the multitude of DOS programs available.

I had several Librettos in the past, 100CT, 110CT, and the U100.....all very nice in their own way.....I used Win 98/2K on the older Librettos and XP/Win10 on the U100....did not think to try DOS on the older ones at the time....that was about 15 or more years ago.....time flies!

Sounds like those were the days....
