Is it possible to add a real time clock to the system?

My CE device has no integrated clock of any kind, though it gets the correct time whenever it connects to the internet. Could there possibly be a way to add a real time clock somehow, so it keeps time and date even when offline and powered off?

Assuming it doesn't have a header for a RTC module: If you can find traces for an I2C bus/PIC bus (IRQ8 usually on x86), find traces to get 3.3v power and clock, solder on a header, then replace the CE kernel with one that uses RTC on I2C/PIC, yes.

In practice and for all real world purposes, no.

I just had an idea. If your device uses a serial cable and you can make an application that talks to it via serial cable to this device:

Or somehow interface a thing called EncroPi, an USB RTC device with your device by writing a driver for it.

Just ideas, but it might come in handy.
