| Please look a few centimeters to the right at your PC.
There you will see the correct connector for the IR adaptor you are going to order.
The connector you circeled red will never in your whole life be usable for you (as long as you don't get the original accessory that was made especially for that model/make of PC. And that seems to be impossible today )

No, I don't want to "weld" the cable I need an adapter to connect the cable to the PC, since from how the image you see, the cable has the same connection as the PC, I can't connect them!
Then connect it to the serial port, not the IR header. The IR port connector is likely propitiatory.

Wouldn't work in this case without a pin re-map. Look at the wiring diagram in the PDF I posted. They're using Pin 2 as Ground where as Null modem uses Pin 5 as ground ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_modem ). |

| So the device arrived, installed correctly, but I can't synchronize the PDA with the PC.
The device is detected, I don't know why but as Palm III and not m100.
The device tells me that it is "waiting for the Sender"
I cancel and manually try to connect it.
This is the information that appears in the Infrared Monitor. But the connection fails.
When I try to connect manually: Connecting to desktop using IR to PC.
I try to use HotSync Manager for data synchronization, which I've always used with the Cable. However it gives me this error:
Cannot open COM 1 port. Verify that COM 1 is available and make the desired changes in Setup HotSync Manager.
In the Italian manual it only explains how to connect the Palemare with the cable, but it says nothing about the infrared connection. He just says it's possible.
Any help?

| I walked up late so I don’t know if I’m trying to say what others have said. But just an idea I had was is there a way to confirm/configure that Serial Ir device to be set as COM1? If you’ve already done that never mind , sorry to be a pest.

| Can you confirm that the IR port is assigned to COM1. Check device manager, Infrared control panel and winmsd. |

| Absolutely it is set to COM 1.
Also, if I try to use HotSync Manager, that error message appears, precisely because COM 1 is used by Infrared Monitor. If I disable Infrared Monitor, HotSync Manager can use COM 1 and the error message does not appear. |

| Do you have infrared in the control panel? Just disable IR comms on the options tab. |

Jake Never play with the baud rates in device manager under Windows 9x if CE is involved. Doing so will almost always break connectivity - could be true of palm as well.
If you have adjusted them, uninstall it in device manager and reboot to restore it.
I remember we used to have huge problems with this back before most people switched to XP and consumers were on 9x. |

| It used to be the first question I asked in the 2000-2003 sort of era. You'd eventually get them to sheepishly admit that they've played with it to make it faster "but they'd put it back". Problem was, putting it back for some reason, didn't fix it. You always had to do the uninstall for reasons that I never cared to investigate. |

| OK, I did it!!! I found the complete manual on the CD and followed the steps to set everything up correctly!!
I attach PDF in English for those who are curious; Chapter 5 page 128.
basically you need to create and set a simulated COM port in which the HotSync Manager will use for infrared data exchange.
Everything works. Too bad it's very slow!
