| I have two CE devices with IrDa interfaces. Sadly I don't have any way of directly connecting with my PC to either of them, so I've been wondering:
Would it be possible to pass the IrDa port of one of the devices through to my PC (it has USB), so that I can effectively communicate through that device over IrDa with the other one?

| Some early 2000s laptops have IrDa built in, but you can buy adapters. Tekram or IRmate are probably the most consistent from what I've heard. | |

| Not at the hardware level. It's technically possible to do it over IP, but you'd need a router software in the middle and an ethernet/WiFi connection on the middle device to facilitate that.
Your best bet is a for simplicity. You can do ActiveSync over IP as well if you have an Ethernet adapter. Everything is simpler over serial/IR though.
