In my Sig3, when the main battery gets to 20%, the machine's popups relentlessly tell you to plug in. This essentially ruins the remaining time, you're so busy clearing the popups.

I've looked hard, both in the forum and the registry, but I can't find anything to disable these warnings, or even an ability to change the percentage prompt, say, 10% instead of 20%.

I doubt this is solvable, but does anyone have an idea?

Not sure if this will work.
Found this page but it says for Windows Mobile, and the CE core shell salesforce link doesn't work

ANSWER / SOLUTIONThe answer / solution to the problem / question documented in this article.
For Dolphin 6100 and 6500 (Windows CE 5):

The battery warning percentage values cannot be changed in the registry database or anywhere else.

For Dolphin 7600 (Windows CE 5):

The battery warning percentages values can be changed in the registry database.

Download the following file
Extract the .reg file from it
Place it to the IPSM\AutoInstall folder of your device.
For Dolphin 7600 (Windows Mobile 6)

Low Battery level and Critical Battery level can be changed in the registry in:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contol\Power]. "CriticalBatt" and "LowBatt" contain the level of battery that will trigger the notification messages (set to 0 to disable)

For Dolphin 99xx and Dolphin 70e Black (Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 6.1 and Windows Embedded Handheld)

Low Battery level and Critical Battery level can be changed in the registry in:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Power]. "LowState" and "MedState" contain the level of battery that will trigger the notification messages (set to 0 to disable)

Additional information:This modification is meant to be used only with applications which use active management of the battery level.

@torch -- thanks for the quick response. I did see that post in my search, but none of those keys are available in the Sig3 reg.I suppose I could make them, but I doubt they'd do anything, else they'd already be there.

I did use the vernacular--state, batt, critical, etc--to search the reg. Nothing came up.

Thanks again,
Jake

Still no solution.

But @cmonex said in this thread :

Quote
so far i made two custom roms (and experimented a lot a few weeks ago... this will be resumed soon!), one has a modified explorer.exe (i know it can be done with mui's too), to make the low backup battery warning disappear for ever (i had a funny story about that but i know that's been lost too). this one isn't really interesting, but the other one sure looks cool with a replaced gwes.exe and commctrl.dll, giving the 900c the "xp look" that some other cenet devices have by default (such as the sig3). i know it sounds funny but i like my 900c a lot better since then

So theoretically this means that warning is controlled by Explorer.

Here’s that thread. I just skimmed it I didn’t read in full

Edit oops that’s for backup battery not main battery. But maybe concept is the same?

I don't have her ROM/explorer.exe, and I wonder how it would work in 4.1 (vs. her 4.2). Food for thought.

Thanks once more.

I'm not 100% sure but I recall I simply moved the popup to the very corner of the screen so that only one pixel is on the display and it never bothered me.

What an idea! The popup can't be minimized, but it hadn't occurred to me to simply move it off-screen. I'm going to try it right now, thank you.

I found this
https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=10820&start=16&posts=30
http://www.mediafire.com/?c5dov20wbbd

Doesn't say anything about the low battery though..

And I can't find that file. Nor on the other izemize site either.

Alt Bass had the best idea so far. I hope that works

Per this thread

https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=13954&start=1

The cmonex custom rom for the 900 doesn’t have the popup for the battery. I don’t have it installed on my 900 but I can flash it and send you the file. Maybe it can be hexedited. Or we can figure out what the differences are with her version

@Alt Bass -- That indeed works. Since I use a pretty weighted font, I can't reduce the popup to a one-pixel space, but it's definitely hideable.

@torch -- What a favor! I'd be happy to play with any exe that you can extract. But that sounds like a hassle for you, if you don't have the ROM readily available... (so weird that we can find so much by waybacking her sites, but not the edited explorer)

Try this

This is a must install imho. You can shut off battery warnings and much more. Its nice to not have a screen popping up telling me my battery is low the sec it hits the 1/2 way mark. I dont need to be interuptted with what im doing when i got 50% left of the battery haha. Just sayin.

Thanks bro ;-) . Yeah this program is a NO BRAINER. I hated those low battery messages and backlight warnings etc. THis software is simple to use and works. Have a try ;-)

I also randomly came across this file in the SCL

This can suppress the backup battery warning on Windows CE 3.0 supposedly

https://www.hpcfactor.com/scl/1100/kirkifer/Battery_Warning_Fix/version_1.0

Obviously, not the main battery, but still could be useful

Good catch, @torch. Wish there was a .cab to do the same for the main batt. But @Alt Bass's workaround has been as successful as possible.
