| For my 680e. I want to use the PCMCIA slot for memory not my wifi. Right now i have a WAve Lan that has CE 2.0 drivers. But I was wondering what SD wifi cards were compatible with the 680 or 680e ? A link to the model where i could buy it would be the bees knees.
So my choices are:
SD wifi card into CF adaptor into the unit
CF wifi into unit (but its gonna stick out leaving that side off the unit)
or
PCMCIA Wave Lan and just use CF for data.
Kinda also interested in which of these three options would give me he better battery life. ?
Helps and thanks very much guys an gals ;-) |

| If it isn't in the HCL, chances are you won't get any other responses I'm afraid. |

| I believe wifi cards using the "Prism" chipset are the technically most power efficient
https://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/200141/intersil_prism_25_reference_drivers_for_windows_ce/
But, if the WaveLAN works, I'd honestly just recommend keeping/using that with the most current driver. The wifi cards are getting harder and harder to find, so if it works already, I'd honestly just recommend keeping/using that.
I doubt you'd see much real world difference between the two.
Can you let us know the brand/model number of the card you're using now? And I can verify you're using the latest driver release update for the 680e.
Also, there won't be any SD wifi that works on the 680. But as we talked about before, even if there was a driver for it, the SD Wifi in the CF adapter wouldn't even "fit" in the 680 because SD wifi cards don't fit "flush" and it wouldn't be possible physically to put that in the 680 like that.
Last question, I'm a little confused, do you have the 680e and the 690e, or one of the two? |

| 680e, sorry i may have said 690e by accident.
The data base says this one will work and looks the most compact. THing is i dont need ten of these, i just need one. Anyone want to help confirm these are the same ones and go in on a package ? Im not kidding. I could use actually 3. So that leaves 7 left.
I may have gotten a 690e im waiting on the person to get in touch with me. So id have both.
If like to go the SD to CF for Wifi but worst case is ill go CF for wifi and storage with PCMCIA.
My Wave Lan Silver
Lucent tech:
PC24E-H-FC
T/N 94613570
P/N 012372a
Works in CE 2.0 drivers on here.
Im just looking to shrink down.
Please let me know if that ebay link is indeed for the right unit and i may just buy that 10 pack and sell em off as needed. Thats a kind price on those, just hope it is indeed the same unit in the the database.

That won't work, the SD Wifi card is too long for the CF adapter and will not fit. But even if it did fit, there's no SD Wifi card that works on CE2.11 with drivers. Only CE 4 or higher I believe
The Intel one you linked to in eBay does not have a driver available for Windows CE 2.11. Only 3.0
https://www.hpcfactor.com/hcl/detail.asp?hcdid=589&pn=1&categoryId=%2D1&sortBy=&hclq=intel&gowince=1%2C3%2C5%2C7%2C10
So that one will not work |

| OK. Thank you for pointing that out. So im a looking for before 3.0.

| I would cross reference the model number into the HCL from HPC:Factor and only purchase if there’s a verified CE2.11 compatibility listing.
I’d honestly look for one that a Jornada 680/690 user marked as compatible to be safe. You don’t want to keep chasing cards that are obscure and may not work.
I haven’t looked up that one but type it into hcl to see if it’s there and if there’s a CE2.11 SH3 driver available |

| That one may work. But be careful.
See how the listings here in the hcl have a full “l-412” style model number?
https://www.hpcfactor.com/hcl/search.asp?categoryId=&hclq=Symbol+
Yours you linked to doesn’t say a full model number or shows l-4137” which isn’t technically in the hcl. It may work but it may not.
I’d try to get one where the exact model number has an hcl listing and you matched it. But it’s up to you if they have a good return policy. |

| If it doesnt work ill find something that it works on around here. For under $9 im content. Im going to use the Wifi>PCMCIA adaptor. Then i can use the CF for my storage. :-)
I found someone using this same card in a 690. So thats a good sign. :-)
It seems as long as its Windows CE 2.11 or higher your food to go with this card.

| I found this on another site about this card
"Windows CE 2.11, Pocket PC 2000, 2002 - NO Windows Mobile 2003 Driver however some users have reported that the Socket driver works."

Works on CE 2.1 or above it seems frm what ive gathered on the net.
Theres a driver zip file. Inflated.zip. In that are all the drivers from CE 2.11 on up.
