OK i figured out how to make screen bigger, theres a zoom option in the view settings. I am about half way into the install. I pray USB works as i have a Serial to USB adaptor i used awhile back when i still had a working XP computer. I have Activesync 3.8 ready to install. Fingers crossed. Id love to not have to buy a laptop just to do this basic task of installing software onto my palmtops. :-)

I appreciate all the help and i will let yall know how it goes when its done installing and hopefully boots up. Driver wise i just need USB to work and i could care less about any other drivers. I have USB thumb drive loaded with EVERY thing CE. So my 680e should be styling and profiling if all goes well with this VM. :-)

OK well i got all the way to the CD key entry and ive tried about 20 different keys and not one is working. So im currently stuck at that part of the install. :-(

update:

I skipped it and the install is now back to work. Says 28 mins left. Fingers crossed. But i know its gonna ask me for a key eventually and its weird is ive used the actual key it came with (I own a copy) and then i tried at least a few dozen from online and none of them would work. But it did allow me to skip this for now. Eventually i gotta figure this out.

Active sync 3.8 is the final version that will sync CE 2.0 and 3.0 handhelds. It does support usb as well. No use installing active sync 4.x. It won’t help you at all.

Here’s the the 3.8 download

Does it have a section for COM ports though?
I bet you can install the serial port driver in macOS and use virtual box to map the com port for you

Or try running the trial version of Parallels

https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/

And install XP in that.

I wouldn’t recommend buying it until you’re 100% sure it works for your setup and Windows XP and your serial USB adapter
