HP Jornada 680: what to expect.

^ You ever get your unit connected to your computer ? Curious if ya got the drivers to work. :-)

I'm still on it... I hope this weekend I'll get it finished.

I the process of writing a list of GB games that work with PalmGB, I found that of the 100 or so that I'd test (load the game and play it for a minute) , only three games did not work well: Diablo, BattleZone and Bubble Ghost. The rest, depending of their complexity, worked fine. Not as fast than in the original GB (of which I've got one since 1992 and still works and look like new ) but are perfectly playable.

I was trying to find the program Morphgear (the 2.1 version) with no success out of HPCfactor (and you know that it's not possible to download it here if you are a newcomer), for me to do a list of GB, GB color and GBA games playable. I'll wait for they give me the right badge that give me permission to download things.

In the meantime, I wish to do a little tutorial for the 360LX and the Jornada 680.

IDK if you can post a link to a folder with the files needed to play GB games (in the old and reliable "copy-paste" installing method) . I think it could save from trouble and hassle all of us newbs. But...
Something tells me that could be near illegal...

Btw: is there ANY MaMe or Gameboy Advance emulator that works on the Jornada 680?

I have tried (so hard) to make VBAdvanceCE_008b and YameCE work, but the first did not load any of the ROMs I have (compressed or uncompressed, ROMs that, BTW, work fine with any other emulators) though it loads any other GB ROM with no problems at all (gb files uncompressed), and YameCE (YameCE_SH3.exe) keeps telling me that it is "not a valid WindowsCE application". WT*?

So far, the games that work, by now, are:

-PalmGB (flawlessly, some roms have glitches) also works on my 360LX.
-HPC Doom (slow sometimes, but work)
-Octopus (Nintendo Handheld)
-Popeye (Nintendo Handheld)
-A "Missile Command" clone (will search for its real name)
-Tetris (clone)

Games that refuse to work:

-Yame (not WinCE app)
-ScummVM (not WinCE app)
-VBAdvance (partially, at least it loads GameBoy ROMs)
-Battle Tank (not WinCE app)

^ DOesnt PalmGB also emulate other gameboy systems ? If you go to the preferences im almost positive you can pick which type of system to run the .rom file... I may be wrong. I dont have my unit in front of me, but ill have to take a look.

No. It only emulates GB. In the file/ROM selection menu, it only has "all files", and the "gb" option. Unless the PalmGB version I've got was older than yours...

Errrr, no that's not my version. where did you get it?, mine only has not the mode option...



I swear IDK what version I have nor the place where I found it. I did almost a hundred searches and downloaded PGB from somwhere... But hang me if I remember what of the 15 files I've got is and from where it comes. Overall because the last v1. 1.0 (at least is what I'd remember) I've tested tells me 'cannot find an application associated to... ", until one of the versions of PGB I found ran fine, and loads files...

Problem is (also) that I deleted yesterday a lot of stuff, and many PGB versions I downloaded are deleted too. Stuff that did not worked, many supposed SH3 files that throw the" not WinCE app", or "cannot find...", etc, etc.

I'm lost.

-MAMECE3. Don't start
-Mame ce. Don't start
-VBAdvanceCE_008b. Work, but it only loads gb games.
-PalmGB 2.0 works, but, of course there's the 2 min limitation for non registered users. Sound works, but it's awful.

I am still searching for a MaMe emulator. Any clues of why Yame refuses to work?

Edit: after some slaps of the wise men, I've seen that Yame it's ONLY for strongARM processors...
